Jill Russo Foster, “Cash, Credit and Your Finances: The Teen Years”
Jill Russo Foster has always been amazed by how people handle their
money. Her first job right out of college was as a bank teller in an affluent area. Many of her customers wore designer clothes and drove prestigious cars, but were also on the overdraft list.
During this same period, she wanted to establish her own credit. She made a game of seeing how many credit cards she could maintain. Her high was 27 credit cards! The game took its toll. It took her many years to pay off the balances she accumulated. Her experiences taught her that our desire to have things right away can cause credit problems that affect us for years.
She is the Founder of The Mortgage Arrangers, LLC. As a mortgage broker, she often sees people who are seriously in debt or who have little or no savings. Drawing on her earlier experiences, she made sure that her mortgage business was not just about loans, but about advising people on money issues that could prevent them from getting, or paying off, their mortgages. Whether they are refinancing to pay off debts, or trying to purchase a home that is outside of their means, she has helped many people straighten out their credit so they could truly afford their homes, not just get a loan. At a time when many mortgage brokers are closing their companies, her business is thriving.
She is also a successful speaker and the author of Cash, Credit, and Your Finances: The Teen Years. Jill Russo Foster introduces teenagers to the basic concepts of managing money. Jill discusses setting and living within a budget, working with a bank, opening accounts, managing credit and debt, paying for a college education, and making major purchases, such as a computer or car. Along the way, Jill provides, tips, worksheets, and practical examples in a friendly, clear style. She is also the author of “TMA Talk” a bi-monthly ezine that discusses the latest scams, credit issues and other pertinent topics of everyday personal finance, while encouraging her subscribers to protect their privacy and live within their means. She currently resides in Connecticut.
